NEED SOME HOME "FUN" TIPS?

- Responsibility? HomeFun should be completed for an average of 30-40 minutes 5 evenings per week. I try to avoid homework on weekends, special projects excluded. Note: Our Home Reading program is factored into this time.
- What to Expect? HomeFun may include work assigned by the teacher not completed in class, reading for pleasure, studying for test/s, daily review of material, and organizing notebooks, etc.
- Reasons for having "too much" homework? A student is choosing to not use class time effectively, he/she is having difficulty in understanding a concept or being absent, a student may just work at a slower pace, and/or student may have left things too late, etc.
- Students are responsible for making up missed work as soon as possible after an absence. Please check daily planner with weekly memo in duotang. If unsure, email immediately ([email protected]
- As much as possible, handouts will be left in a "While You Were Away" Folder on student’s desk and collected and stored until the student picks up work
- It is highly recommended students come to class early upon returning to school the next day following an absence in order that their classmates' class time is respected and I can better assist them individually.
- Assignments will be tracked daily (with an task number) and parent/guardians informed of late work in planner as soon as possible
- If deemed necessary, students will be asked to reflect in writing and engage in problem solving for successful solutions. Ongoing late work without a reasonable excuse will be reflected in students term summary comments related to work habits and core competencies.
- Late work concerns will be communicated to parents immediately. Know, too, ngoing issues related to task completion, quality of work, behaviour, etc. can be referred to the Raymer School-Based Support Team.
- Students are strongly encouraged to do subject homework on the day assigned as this helps with organization and time management. Mrs. S is also available before and after school for support as outlined in "Important to Know" within Welcome tab.
