Some Background About Mrs. S!
I studied at the University of Victoria completing both a Bachelor of Music, First Class, in 1978 and a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership and Administration in 1996. I have now taught 37 years at all levels - elementary, middle and senior secondary. While I started my career as a music specialist overseeing the music program in Deep Cove, North Van, I spent many years teaching grade 4-7 classroom & Gr. 5-12 Band in North Van, Delta and Kelowna. I recently moved from teaching all curriculum areas of grade 7 for seven years at Dorothea Walker to KLO, where I taught grade 7 band and English 7 and Social Studies 7. I shared the Humanities Dept. leadership position with Mrs. Holmes and served as a KLO and CMOS curricular-leader. I work closely with UBCO mentoring intern and candidate teachers as they prepare for the challenge of an amazing and rewarding career teaching and continued collaborating with UBCO up until December, 2019.
I have been married for 31 years to Sam Samaddar and together we have four children Nathan, Devin, Liam and Maya. All my children have graduated and are pursuing or in pursuit of their careers. We have 2 cats - Tipper & Kona and two dogs - Xena and Daisy.
Some of my favourite things to do when I am not teaching are to spend time with family cooking, baking, gardening, camping, playing the piano, and reading. This past summer we spent a lot of time at Conkle Lake Provincial campground near Rock Creek!
My favourite foods to eat are my husband's butter chicken, bhindi (okra dish) and Greek souvlaki. I make incredible samosas and always enjoy a good chai tea, mango lassi, ice cream and filet mignon. My weakness - all things dessert, especially good chocolate!
